My first year anniversary as a yoga instructor

Updated: May 13, 2019

Yoga teacher graduation

Today is a special day for me, it is my first year anniversary as a yoga instructor 💙 the past year has been an absolute whirlwind. Soon after my training, I was given opportunities by some incredible people and started teaching on land and on SUP boards on Lake Burley G, and as of Monday, I'll be teaching out of my very own studio and soon to be a full time teacher. I feel so humbled that I have the support of Canberra filling my classes week after week. Even though my yoga business has flowed with ease, it has meant long hours while working full time and on other projects. It has tested my patience, my courage, my health, my self control and my ability to let go of a fixed outcomes - or detachment. The hardest has been balance. It has meant less balance in my personal life and the inability to always be there for people who I care for most. I've sacrificed my own time and energy, not filling up my own cup of self care (and maintaining my own regular practice as often as I should) which in turn, meant I sacrificed time and energy for loved ones. That is a tough one to swallow. Running a business is hard work, physically and emotionally. But my direction has never felt more right. I'm excited to be bringing more yoga to the region, more fun, different styles of yoga and also more me time, more time for loved ones and more of a balanced and authentic life for me when I walk out of the doors of the corporate world one final time (hopefully forever). Thank you to everyone who has supported me, given me opportunities, been patient with me when I'm not around. Thank you to my teachers, my yogi family, my colleagues, my clients and especially my loved ones. I will forever be a student of this universe. I take each experience as a life lesson and am forever grateful for the ancient learnings of yoga. My life would not be the same without it 🙏
